I’m Saving a Can

Words and music by Randy Mauger

CHORUS - I’m saving a can for the recycle man so he’ll take it with him in his recycle van. You may have just one but you know there’ll be more. So, save them for him and leave them by the door.

VERSE #1 - Aluminum is fine for cans it’s true. But, melt it down and you can make other things too; like pots and pans for Mom and wheels for trucker Tom. Like engines for our cars and rockets to the stars. CHORUS

VERSE #2 - Aluminum comes from an ore called Bauxite. Refineries turn it into metal so light. It helps air planes fly high and trucks as they whiz by. One other giant plus, aluminum won’t rust! CHORUS

VERSE #3 - Aluminum is strong but lighter than steel. It costs a lot to make from ore and that’s for real. So when we’ve had our drinks don’t waste the can, that stinks! We’ll use that can some more. Recycle now for sure...

BRIDGE - ...for electric wires and building boats, for shinny bike wheels, and their new spokes. For cookie tins, aluminum foil, for lawn mowers and cans for oil. For cookie sheets and light weight trains, roofs and siding keep out the rains. Cake and pie plates, don’t forget tools, save those cans now recycling rules! CHORUS
